Which characters are removed?
All Unicode punctuation — periods, commas, quotes, brackets, dashes, question and exclamation marks, and their international equivalents. Letters, numbers, and spacing remain.
Why remove punctuation from text?
It is a common step before text analysis, word-frequency counts, and search indexing — or when a system rejects special characters.
